About

Abhijit “AV” Verekar is the author of Start at Zero: Leading High-Stakes Modernization in the Age of AI and the founder and CEO of Avero Advisors, which he started in Knoxville in 2016 to advise public agencies only from the buyer side as they plan, select and oversee ERP, HR and AI systems. The firm now has offices in Knoxville, Portland and Hyderabad and has been named to the Inc. 5000 six times.

Over nearly twenty years and more than 30 public-sector engagements, AV has seen that the technology projects that succeed are decided early, when someone names an owner, writes down the decision and gets the data ready before vendors start presenting, and that idea runs through his book, his keynotes and his Start at Zero newsletter and YouTube channel. He speaks to city and county managers, CIOs, finance leaders and higher education executives.

Outside work

AV is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Avero Advisors is headquartered.
